Mustang Encounter
He stands frozen in the moment
Eyes wide and dilated, nostrils flaring
The breeze caresses his black mane
And speaks to him of human scent
I silently ask for acceptance
As I gaze back into his fear
We connect, if only for a fleeting moment in time
He breathes a sigh and turns slowly to leave
Knowing I am friend not foe
And my spirit is dancing beside him
Love THAT!
ReplyDeleteYou will never forget that Nevada stallion...ever!
Man, he's something.
Yay for you!!!!
Truth be known I wrote that 20+ years ago while watching the mustangs at the Ridgecrest BLM holding facility. There's a road around the corrals and you can drive around it. Used to hang out there whenever I had the opportunity.
DeleteAll that time and it still rings true:-) (I need more mustang photos.)
